1. Leo Borlock- Leo is the main character/narrator of the story. He falls in love with the quirky Stargirl, only to be tested by the power of peer pressure.
2. Susan Caraway (Stargirl)- Stargirl moves to Mica High School to receive a roller coaster reception from everyone as a result of her unique and mold-breaking behavior.
3. Kevin Quinlin- Leo's best friend and talk show host of The Hot Seat.
4. Archie Brubaker- Archie is a retired archaeologist who gives his wizened advice to the boys. He is also good friends of Stargirls, knowing a good deal about her behavior and background
5. Hilary Kimble- A popular girl at school who finds very little to like about Stargirl and is out to get her pretty much from day 1
